Birchfoot rushed into the mossy clearing of the trainig hollow. He wanted to be here sooner but had decided to first show Sparrowpaw the important parts of the territory. That took longer than he'd wanted it to. He sat down and, while waiting for the others, begin to wash one of his light gray paws.
((In case you don't know, Meadowmoon, Sparrowpaw is one of the plot characters))

Rowankit and Lunakit had successfully followed Birchfoot and his companions out to the training hollow, and were now hiding in the nearby bramble bush. The two were small enough to slide inside without catching any of their fur on the thorns, and really, who would look into a thorn bush for two missing kits?
Rowankit was growing impatient that Sparrowpaw wasn't here yet. Lunakit brushed against her brother to calm his twitching unsheathed claws. He was always so impatient!
"The longer it takes that mousebrain to get here and start training, the less time we'll have to watch!" the tom-kit whispered angrily. "If we're going to get in trouble for this, it had better be worth it!"
Lunakit had to refrain from mentioning that it was him that had dragged her out here, not the other way around.

Birchfoot sighed impatiently. Where are they? They should've been here by now. He turned his head in every single direction, hoping to get a glimspe of either Ivorypelt or Sparrowpaw or even Fleetfoot.

Fleetfoot ran into the clearing and crashed into some brambles. Grunting in pain, he pulled on the bush, freeing himself but leaving tufts of white fur on the thorns. He looked, wide-eyed at Birchfoot.

Rowankit stifled the urge to laugh as Fleetfoot stumbled into the clearing. What a klutz!
Lunakit shook her head sadly at the white tom, sympathetic to his clumsiness. Someone should try to help him...

Birchfoot let out a long sigh. He was expecting Fleetfoot to be the last one here. Getting up, he begin padding over to the wide-eye tom. "Wow, you're the second one here. You didn't happen to see Sparrowpaw or Ivorypelt before you crashed into the clearing, did you?" He asked, starting to get worried.

Sparrowpaw suddenly dashed into the clearing, nearly tripping over a root in the proccess. "Sorry!" he apologized, smiling sheepishly. "I...um...got lost. Yeah." The apprentice gave his pelt a shake. "So, we're training now, right?"

Birchfoot shooked his head. These are times when he wished he didn't had an apprentice. "That's alright, and yes we're training. We'll begin once Ivorypelt gets here." He looked at the undergrowth, hoping to spot the off-white she-cat.

Ivorypelt uncharacteristically stumbled into the clearing, shaking her head and glaring over her shoulder back into the bushes. "Stupid squirrel. I could've sworn I was faster than that..." she mumbled crossly to herself, padding over to sit close to Sparrowpaw and Birchfoot. "Sorry, got caught up in chasing a squirrel." she apologized quietly, licking her chestfur nervously. Normally she'd have caught the squirrel, but she'd tripped on a tree root, and ended up in a pile of wildly splayed limbs before working her way back to where she was supposed to be.

Birchfoot couldn't help but laugh. "That's okay, Ivorypelt. I would have done the same, I mean go after a squirrel." Now he was begining to feel awkward. He stood up and padded to the middle of the clearing. "Alright now Sparrowpaw, let's begin your training! Let's practice with some fighting moves first. Come at me as hard and fast as you can." He didn't know what to expect, for he had never really paid much attention to Sparrowpaw back when the young apprentice was a kit.

Sparrowpelt gave Birchfur a good look-over before crouching down and bunching his muscles, preparing for a lunge. He quickly leapt and sped forward, eyes on his target as he took another flying leap at his mentor about a fox-length away.
Rowankit quietly snorted in the bushes. What a stupid move, coming head-on like that! Sparrowpaw could have at least tried to surprise Birchfur.
Lunakit's eyes widened as the apprentice took his leap, wondering what exactly Birchfur would do in retaliation.

Birchfoot leaped to the side. Let's see how he'll dogde this! With claws unsheathed, he tried to swat with his paw at Sparrowpaw's head.

Birchfoot's paw hit Sparrowpaw's head clear on, and the apprentice went flying. He stifled a frustrated growl as he lay sprawled out on the ground, but wasted no time in leaping back onto his paws to take another crack at his mentor. A forepaw flew out, more cautious this time, trying to swipe at Birchfoot's limbs and knock him off balance.

Birchfoot tried to get out of the way, but Sparrowpaw's paw collided with his hind leg. He tried to keep his balance but it was to late. He found himself landing flat on his face. "Oof! nice one, Sparrowpaw!" He mewed. He then charged at the apprentice, trying to knock him over and pin him down.

Ivorypelt watched with curious expression, wondering just how Sparrowpaw would get out of this. He'd already proved that he was a good apprentice and a quick learner, but that still left out the fact that he didn't really know any fighting moves, since Birchfoot was teaching by attacking. Her head tilted to the side as she watched, teal eyes glued to the fighting lesson.
